Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 4-5 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool for ten minutes in the pans before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
