A nutritious and flavorful dish featuring beef liver complemented by sweet caramelized onions.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef liver, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 2 tbsp butter, divided
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions, sprinkle with salt, and cook for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining olive oil and butter. Season liver with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  4. Cook liver slices for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned but tender.
  5. Return caramelized onions to the skillet and mix gently. Cook for another minute to heat through.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with parsley if desired.

Notes

Choose fresh beef liver for the best flavor. Don’t rush the onion caramelizing process for maximum sweetness.
