Description

Bite-sized churros with a crispy exterior and soft inside, coated in cinnamon sugar. Perfect for gatherings or a delightful snack!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil (about 2-3 cups)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring water, butter, sugar, and salt to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Use a piping bag or a Ziploc bag with the corner cut off to pipe small, bite-sized shapes into the hot oil.
  6. Fry the poppers for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown, turning them for even cooking.
  7. Remove them from the oil and place them on a towel to drain excess oil.
  8. In a bowl, mix the granulated sugar with ground cinnamon. Roll the warm poppers in the sugar mixture to coat.

Notes

Serve warm with chocolate sauce or caramel for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
