Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half. Tint one half with red food coloring.
- Roll each portion into rectangles, stack them, and roll into a log.
- Wrap the log in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the chilled log into 1/4-inch thick rounds and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on wire racks before serving.
