Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Chocolate ganache or melted chocolate for filling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add in flour, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Using your thumb or a tool, make an indentation in the center of each ball.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12-15 minutes.
  6. After baking, fill the thumbprints with chocolate ganache or melted chocolate.
  7. Allow to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
