Description

Delicious and chewy gingerbread cookies filled with warm spices, perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add molasses and spices, and mix until combined.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Roll the dough into balls and then roll in sugar.
  5. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet.

Notes

For chewier cookies, avoid overbaking and consider chilling dough if too soft.
