Description

A comforting South Korean street food dish that combines chewy rice cakes with a spicy gochujang sauce and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Korean rice cakes (tteok)
  • 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine the water and gochujang, stirring until smooth.
  2. Add the rice cakes and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until the rice cakes are tender.
  4. Stir in the mozzarella and cheddar cheese until melted and evenly distributed.
  5. Serve warm, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, let it simmer longer while stirring frequently. Use a combination of cheeses for best flavor.
