- 2 pounds Russet Potatoes
- 2 cups Shredded Cheese (Gruyère or Cheddar)
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 1/4 cup Fresh Herbs (Thyme, parsley, or chives)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Butter a baking dish.
- Slice the Russet potatoes thinly and layer them in the baking dish.
- Season each layer with salt, pepper, shredded cheese, and fresh herbs.
- Continue layering until you run out of potatoes.
- Pour heavy cream or half-and-half over the top of the gratin.
- Cover with foil and bake until the potatoes are tender.
- Remove the foil and bake until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Letting the gratin rest for a few minutes allows it to set, making it easier to serve. Use various types of cheese for different flavors.
