- 4 medium Tennessee onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and thinly slice the Tennessee onions from root to tip.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted.
- Add the sliced onions to the skillet, stirring well to coat them.
- Sprinkle with salt and sauté for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
- If desired, add fresh thyme during the last few minutes of cooking.
Notes
Use a non-stick skillet to prevent sticking. Stir frequently for even caramelization. Patience is key for perfect onions.
