Description

Ingredients

  • 4 medium Tennessee onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the Tennessee onions from root to tip.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted.
  3. Add the sliced onions to the skillet, stirring well to coat them.
  4. Sprinkle with salt and sauté for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.
  5. If desired, add fresh thyme during the last few minutes of cooking.

Notes

Use a non-stick skillet to prevent sticking. Stir frequently for even caramelization. Patience is key for perfect onions.
