  • 45 medium Yams, peeled and sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peeled and slice the yams into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced yams with brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or oil.
  5. Pour the coated yams into the prepared baking dish, spreading them evenly.
  6. Add water to the dish.
  7. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes.
  9. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and stir the yams gently.
  10. Return the dish to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the yams are tender and caramelized.
  11. Let the yams cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure even slicing for consistent cooking. For extra crunch, broil for a few minutes at the end.
