- 4–5 medium Yams, peeled and sliced into rounds
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peeled and slice the yams into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced yams with brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or oil.
- Pour the coated yams into the prepared baking dish, spreading them evenly.
- Add water to the dish.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the foil and stir the yams gently.
- Return the dish to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the yams are tender and caramelized.
- Let the yams cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Ensure even slicing for consistent cooking. For extra crunch, broil for a few minutes at the end.
