Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and yeast. Add the eggs, melted butter, and warm milk. Knead until smooth.
  2. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm area for about 60 minutes or until doubled.
  3. Once risen, punch down the dough, roll it out, and cut into donut shapes.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pot.
  5. Fry each donut for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar or dip in glaze while warm before serving.

Notes

Can be served warm or at room temperature. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for best freshness. Can freeze for longer storage.
