- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 cup Brown sugar
- 1/4 cup Honey or corn syrup
- 1 cup Chopped pecans
- 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3 Eggs
- 1 cup Buttermilk or plain milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Instructions
- Melt butter with brown sugar and honey (or syrup) in a small saucepan until bubbly, then stir in chopped pecans.
- Pour the pecan mixture into a parchment-lined 9-inch cake pan.
- Cream together butter and sugar for about 5 minutes.
- Add eggs one by one, mixing well after each.
- Gradually mix in flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda, alternating with buttermilk until combined.
- Carefully pour batter over the pecan mixture and smooth out the top.
- Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out almost clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before flipping out onto a serving plate.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients. You can double the recipe for larger gatherings.
