Delightful cookies that combine ripe bananas with rich chocolate chips, perfect for a sweet craving.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened or gently melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Mash the ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth but still slightly chunky for texture.
- Combine the butter with the mashed bananas and brown sugar.
- Pour the vanilla extract into the banana-butter mixture and stir well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and optional nuts.
- Scoop the dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
For best flavor, use really ripe bananas. Don’t overmix the dough to avoid tough cookies. For soft cookies, remove them from the oven while still slightly underbaked.
