			- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
 - 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
 - ½ cup brown sugar
 - ½ teaspoon baking soda
 - ¼ teaspoon salt
 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened or gently melted
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - 1 cup chocolate chips
 - ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
 
Instructions
- Mash the ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth but still slightly chunky for texture.
 - Combine the butter with the mashed bananas and brown sugar.
 - Pour the vanilla extract into the banana-butter mixture and stir well.
 - In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
 - Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and optional nuts.
 - Scoop the dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
 - Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
 - Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
 
Notes
For best flavor, use really ripe bananas. Don’t overmix the dough to avoid tough cookies. For soft cookies, remove them from the oven while still slightly underbaked.
