- 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and chopped
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Boil the peeled potatoes in salted water until they are fork-tender, approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes well.
- Return the drained potatoes to the pot and mash them with the heavy cream and butter until smooth.
- Season the mashed potatoes with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, mixing well to combine.
- Transfer the mashed potatoes to a greased baking dish. If desired, top with shredded cheese.
- Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Notes
For extra creamy potatoes, consider using half-and-half or sour cream. Always taste as you go for perfect seasoning.
