Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp paprika (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil the chopped potatoes in a large pot of salted water until they’re fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes well.
- Return the drained potatoes to the pot. Add the butter, heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mash everything together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Transfer the creamy mashed potatoes to a greased baking dish. Spread them evenly and top with grated cheddar cheese. Sprinkle paprika on top.
- Bake the dish in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Notes
For extra creaminess, consider increasing the amount of heavy cream or butter. Customize with cream cheese or chopped cooked bacon for added flavor.
