Description

A creamy and delicious baked macaroni dish that combines pasta and cheese for the ultimate comfort food.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute.
  4. Gradually add the milk, continuing to whisk until the sauce is thickened.
  5. Stir in the cheeses until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni, then transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  7. Mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.

Notes

For a crispy topping, you can blend the breadcrumbs with parmesan cheese before sprinkling.
