Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk (warm)
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup unsalted butter (cold)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast together.
- Stir in warm milk until the dough forms.
- Knead the dough until smooth and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
- Flatten cold butter with a rolling pin until it’s thin and wide.
- Roll out the dough and place the butter inside, folding the dough over to encase the butter.
- Roll out again and fold, then rest in the fridge overnight.
- The next day, roll out the dough, cut into triangles, and shape into croissants.
- Let the shaped croissants rise in a warm area for about 1 hour.
- Brush with an egg wash and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) until golden, about 15-20 minutes.
Notes
Make sure to use the best quality unsalted butter for the best flavor. Be patient with the dough as it needs time to chill and rise.
