Description

Delicate French macarons filled with spiced apple filling, combining the essence of a traditional apple pie in a bite-sized treat.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 large egg whites (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar to prevent clumps.
  2. Whip egg whites into a stiff meringue.
  3. Fold in dry ingredients until the batter reaches a “lava-like” texture.
  4. Pipe macarons onto baking sheets and let rest until a skin forms.
  5. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Let cool completely before filling with applesauce buttercream.
