- 5–6 medium apples (Granny Smith recommended)
- Juice of half a lemon
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup oats (old-fashioned)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut up
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Peel and slice the apples, toss with lemon juice in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle a little cinnamon over the apples.
- In a bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, oats, remaining cinnamon, and salt.
- Add cold butter and mix until clumpy.
- Spread topping over the apples.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
Notes
Use cold butter for a crunchy topping. Leftovers reheat well in the microwave or air fryer. Feel free to experiment with different apple varieties and toppings!
