Ingredients
Scale
- 1 single-crust pie dough
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 medium baking apples, peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch wedges
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup caramel topping or caramel apple dip
Instructions
- Set the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to fully preheat.
- Gently roll out the pie dough onto a pizza pan or baking sheet, shaping a 1/4-inch thick crust.
- In a medium bowl, combine granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and ground cinnamon.
- Toss the apple slices with the sugar mixture until they are evenly coated.
- Distribute the coated apple slices evenly across the dough surface.
- In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, and ground cinnamon for the topping.
- Cut in softened butter using a fork or pastry blender until the mixture forms medium-sized crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the layered apples.
- Place the dessert in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven, drizzle with caramel topping, let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
Notes
For easier slicing, allow the dessert to cool down for a bit after baking. Use a variety of apples for different flavors; Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well. Feel free to add nuts or raisins for extra texture and taste.
